Workflow was implemented with M.D.C. Holdings, Inc. for their Job Initiation Order and Change Order (JIO/CO) notification and approval processes. Job Initiation Orders are signed when a customer is cleared and agrees to building a Lot, which is a tract of land that a house is built upon. Change Orders occur when a customer desires to modify something that was designed or has been already been built as part of the specifications.

The following screen shows the setup of auto-approvals prior to signing a JIO or CO. As an example to illustrate the process in which these auto-approvals will be used, suppose a custom change is requested and signed off on for a specific Lot in Community 10010000, Phase 000.

Before this Change Order is set to an “Approved” status, it must go through Workflow approvals and notifications. Specifically, the Management division must first approve of the changes since the other divisions, Sales and Construction, have been set to auto-approve. At the point the Change Order is approved by Management, notification will then get sent out to the recipients whose emails are specified in a Distribution List, below.
